I've shared the story of Emery's driftwood door sign before when it belonged on the nursery door, but haven't since shared it's new location - the entrance to her new big kid room. We moved the sign a bedroom over in the Spring, a couple of months before the baby's arrival to give Emery a chance to get used to her new room before baby. The room has been finished for a while now, or at least as "finished" as a room can be (we could always add a shelf here, a few more frames there..) but I hadn't gotten around to sharing it until today. I just used my iphone to quickly snap some photos as I spun around the room (this was of course after a few spins around the room putting things away haha, with a three year old it never stays this clean) so the photos aren't the best quality but I'm proud to share what we have done with this room nonetheless. My husband built all the furniture and I added a few crafty touches of course.
^^ the first thing we bought were these IKEA baskets, then my husband based his measurements for the bed and shelf/desk around them ^^
^^ I knit up the rug with chunky wool once we had the bedspread ordered (amazon) and knew what colors/theme (woodland) we were working with^^
^^ I loved that the baskets came in a whole IKEA storage line that had more basket sizes to match ^^
^^ I made the "I love you to the moon and back" print on Shutterfly with a bunch of my favourite photos from Emery's toddlerhood ^^
^^ My husband designed a little corner desk at the end of the shelf for Emery to craft at, and the scribbled-on papers hanging above are always revolving ^^
^^ Of course, my favourite craft that went into this room is this felt woodland animals garland. These little critters were seriously the funnest thing to make! ^^
We are so glad that we moved Emery to a big kid room early (since of course her baby brother is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room so the nursery is totally free haha) because now we can cuddle up in her toddler bed with her and it's a heck of a lot easier than climbing into the crib! I also spend a lot of time sitting cross-legged on that rug nursing while she plays. Probably my favourite part about her big kid room is all the storage space though so that we finally have a place to put all the toys!
xo.
