We have been wanting to try to make our own DIY pin-hole camera since last September. While honeymooning in Nelson, BC, we stopped at one of the million cute bookstores downtown and saw a how-to article in a photography book. For Christmas, Julian surprised me with a tripod, wireless remote and camera body cap! Then all we needed was an empty pop can, scizzors, hot glue gun, drill and a safety pin. Since we had all those items in the appartment, here is a step by step guide to build your own pin-hole camera:
1) Drill a hole through the center of the body cap (after removing it from the camera)
2) Cut a circle from an empty pop can to fit inside the body cap
3) Hot glue tin circle to the inside of the body cap, being careful not to get glue in newly drilled hole
4) With safety pin, gently poke a hole through the pop can from the outside of the body cap (the smaller the hole is, the sharper the image. So use something behind the tin to keep it from pushing off)
5) Attatch to camera. And shoot! You got yourself a pin-hole camera.

For best results you will need to use a very slow shutter speed, anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes depending on lighting and pin-hole size. Play around with it a bit, it takes some getting used to. So worth it to achieve unique images with a vintage feel!
11. Make a pin-hole camera is crossed off my 20 for 20 goal list!
