One thing I have learnt in the blissful past 9 months since we were wed is that marriage is about giving, in all its incarnations. Obviously I have heard this statement before and thought it sounded so simple, and indeed it is – but it demands some serious effort and thought. And occasionally it requires of us to dig deep within for the strength and will power.
Husband and I couldn’t be more opposite. He is an outdoorsman to the core, who loves adventure and the prospect of a new challenge. He leaves the city at every available chance, and no matter where he is in body; his thoughts are in the mountains. He loves to push himself physically, especially through rock climbing. I am quite uncomfortable with heights, but Julian loves the sport so much that I really wanted to share it with him! (This definitely required me to “dig deep within for the strength and will power”) At first I didn’t enjoy rock climbing, but he is a very good tutor and I have become quite fond of it.
A couple weekends ago was our first outdoor climbing adventure together, and I can’t say I am overly skilled at the sport. However, giving up my fear to God and giving my time to husband made for an amazing, exciting and challenging day!
