I'm so excited to finally see our nursery the way we had envisioned it looking when I was pregnant and we were moving into our house! The priority was to paint all the walls the same shade of white, get rid of the gross carpet and lay down hardwood in the two weeks before our due date, so decorating and painting a wall mural were definitely not near the top of the to-do list. We've been slowly adding to the decor of the room with homemade items and sentimental gifts, and last week we finally "finished" it by painting that mural behind the crib of my favourite mountain in the Rockies, Pyramid Mountain. To show how drastically different this room looks than when we first moved in, here is a before photo taken from the doorway 10 months ago:
^^ bye bye carpet and blue walls! Good riddance! ^^
^^ One day my husband will build a shelf or two below the world map mirrors (from Urban Outfitters) to store Emery's toys and books on, because I am sure they will accumulate! But for now they fit nicely just stacked on the floor and they're baby-height when she's sitting on the floor ^^
^^ my sister in law made the "Dream Big Little One" sign after seeing I had pinned a similar print on Pinterest. She is so talented! I love the teepees ^^
^^ we mainly asked for books whenever people asked for shower gift ideas for Em, so she already has a nice little collection going! My favourites though are all the books from my own childhood, that my brother and I read and then sent to Granny's house so the younger cousins could enjoy them. They just came back to me this Spring now that all us cousins are now 'grown' and I'm so excited that Emery gets to read them too! They're worn and wonderful. ^^
^^ my sis-in-law also made the "Oh Baby" sign to hang above the food table at Em's baby shower. She's a crafty one! It's a fun addition to the room. The wooden whale above the door was a gift, and we bought the nautical hanger from Winners. ^^
^^ We picked up the print on the left from during Christmas vacation 2012 in Lahaina, Hawaii. The print of the whale on the front is from Urban Outfitters. My sis-in-law sewed the rocking chair cushions and matching quilt, and I knit the striped black and white quilt. ^^
I love being in this room. It makes me feel calm, and seems to calm Emery down as well since she has been sleeping like a dream in there these past couple of weeks! Decorating is so fun, but I don't like to spend a lot of money on it. Thankfully I have many crafty and thoughtful poeple in my life who gifted us such beautiful pieces making it all come together so perfectly.
