My mom and I recently experimented with her pasta maker and I could not believe how easy it is! I expected pasta making to be an elaborate process that took all afternoon just to make dinner and really, who has time for that? It took mom and an 1 one hour to whip up enough pasta to feed approximately 4 people for 3 dinners. With an afternoon and a deep freeze, huge batches of fresh pasta could be made!
^^ We used my Uncle's home grown organic whole wheat flour for one of the batches and it turned out delicious with a nice whole wheat flavor and brown color. ^^
The other two batches were: regular white fettucini (which we turned into a delicious chicken fettucini alfredo dish that night for my dad and husband) and a lemon pepper fettucini that I have yet to try but is waiting in the freezer! Homemade pasta freezes really well.
We brainstormed different flavors to make this summer when we have an abundance of fresh garden produce too, like spinach, kale and tomato. Mmm. If you have a pasta maker collecting dust in the pantry, or know someone who does, I definitely encourage you to try making your own pasta too! I'm hooked!
