My body has this tremendous ability to take any little germ and transform it into a wild and ravenous superbug. So I knew I had to take action fast against the flu that has been bringing many people down around town (whaddya think of that little number? "dOWN arOUNd tOWN" who knew I was such a poet!? anyways..). After an 11 hour sleep Tuesday night I woke up starving! A yummy breakfast of grilled nut butter (almond for the lady, peanut for the gent) banana sandwiches, green tea and good old fashioned OJ was the perfect start to a health-improving day.
A dear future-nurse friend of mine advised me to stay hydrated, and my mom swears by lemon water - which seemed to do the trick!
Our medicine cabinet is always fully stocked and ready for such emergencies as a Tuesday flu, thanks to my Dad. He loves to stay on top of what's new in the health world and keeps us informed and up to date! His recommendation: Echinacea, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, 2 multivitamins and Fish liver oil pills. Check out the Doc's health blog!
Wednesday morning is our time to be active together at the Multiplex, and I wasn't about to let a measly little virus ruin our fun! Since we both have pretty lofty fitness goals for this summer (I'm doing a triathalon and Julian's running in the Death Race) we practiced soccer for a bit then went for a run on the running track.
Cardio followed by a soak in the hottub seemed to be just the remedy my body needed, so I went back to the Multiplex for lane swimming and another soak later in the afternoon. Needless to say, I showed that flu who's boss!
